INNOVAPartnerships
Bring the expertise, the technology or the problem. We build the rest together.
Have technology, expertise, a problem or an opportunity? Each partnership model below says what each side brings and which part of the line it covers.
In brief
INNOVA joins Canadian innovation projects as the software and AI partner: co-development, applied R&D, pilots and program-funded R&D projects. Partners bring domain expertise, data, users or technology. INNOVA brings product design, engineering and AI.
Eight ways to work together.
A project often combines two of them, for example applied R&D followed by a pilot.
Co-development
We build a product together and share the work and the result.
- You bring
- Domain knowledge, users, a problem you understand deeply
- INNOVA brings
- Product design, engineering, AI, delivery
Applied R&D
A defined research question, a prototype and an honest feasibility answer.
- You bring
- Research results, data or a technical hypothesis
- INNOVA brings
- Rapid prototyping, experiments, validation
Product commercialization
Turning a proven concept into a product people can buy and use.
- You bring
- A working technology or research output
- INNOVA brings
- Product architecture, MVP, pilots, go-to-market support
Technology integration
Connecting your technology to the systems your customers already run.
- You bring
- A platform, device, API or model
- INNOVA brings
- Integrations, workflows, deployment
Pilot deployment
A time-boxed pilot with real users and agreed success measures.
Example: OpenField, field validation now being scoped for 2027
- You bring
- An operational environment and users
- INNOVA brings
- Configuration, rollout, measurement
Program-funded R&D projects
An R&D project carried out under an innovation funding program, with the partners and roles set out in the application.
- You bring
- Expertise, co-funding or an industry need
- INNOVA brings
- The software and AI work package: its technical plan, its budget and the build.
Industry + technology consortium
Operators, researchers and builders on one project with clear roles.
- You bring
- Your part of the problem
- INNOVA brings
- Coordination and the software that ties it together
Canadian adaptation and integration
Fitting technology proven elsewhere to Canadian users and the systems they run.
- You bring
- Technology proven in other markets
- INNOVA brings
- Engineering to adapt it to Canadian data, languages, regulation and the software already in place
How a partnership starts.
Four steps, from the first message to the first shared result.
-
Tell us in writing what you bring and what you need.
-
If there is a fit, we send a one-page scope: the question, what each side brings, the first milestone and a stop condition.
-
IP, confidentiality and publication terms are agreed in writing before any work starts.
-
First bounded stage, for example a prototype or a feasibility answer, then a joint decision on the next one.
Who we partner with.
INNOVA is based in Ottawa and is open to partners in Canada and abroad. We are glad to join consortium applications to Canadian innovation programs as the software and AI partner.
Eligibility rules differ by program. We check them for INNOVA before we commit to an application.
How INNOVA runs research questions, prototypes and commercialization is on the Innovation & R&D page.
